| Portman Ritz-Carlton¡¯s recruitment fair attracts 700-odd Chinese and foreigners |

Catherine Wang ÍõîÚÓ¢ A recent large recruitment fair held by The Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai attracted 744 interested individuals, among which more than 20 were foreigners. There were around 30 positions open, including chef, manager of the Italian restaurant, manager of the banquet hall, deputy banquet sales chief officer, customer service manager, account relationship chief, stewarding department leader and attendants of various department, etc. 155 applicants have entered into the second round of screening. The general manager, Rainer J. B¨¹rkle, revealed that Portman Ritz-Carlton now had a staff of 700 and the number was expected to increase to 800. The hotel is said to fix Tuesday each week as an open recruitment day (from 9 am to 12 am) to seek talents who aspire to develop their career in the service sector. Portman Ritz-Carlton is the only platinum five-star hotel in Shanghai. The hotel topped the list of the Third ¡°Best Employers¡± appraisal organized by Hewitt Associates, The Asian Wall Street Journal and Far Eastern Economic Review. Not long ago, it invested USD3,000 to refurbish the hotel. The prestigious brand name of the hotel did pay a significant role in attracting the hundreds of applicants at the job fair. |
