Catherine Wang ÍõîÚÓ¢ The Portman Ritz-Carlton is offering a brand-new trip that blends a luxury holiday and volunteering experience by launching ¡°Give Back Getaways¡±, a first-of-its-kind initiative in China. An ancient water town with over 1300 years of history, Wuzhen¡¯s landscape is dotted with late 19th century buildings and ancient stone bridges. Water courses and flagstone streets intersect throughout the town and native residents live in their old houses by the water. An enriching experience that allows our guests and employees to contribute to the community, our hotel¡¯s Wuzhen Preservation Project will offer memorable experiences through environmental conservation, hunger and poverty relief and the well-being of disadvantaged children. To assist with the restoration, conservation and community development, guests will plant trees, raise funds for the restoration of the heritage houses and support the lunch program of 28 underprivileged children in the Zhi Cai Primary School. To help with the restoration efforts, the group will work alongside the water town¡¯s artisans in brick-making, cleaning, clearing and painting. This year, the Portman Ritz-Carlton¡¯s Community Footprints program will be run on the following dates: Apr.24, Jun.26, Aug.28, Oct.30 and Dec.18.
